Commercial Insurance- Why Does it Matter to YOU?

Dealing with insurance requirements for a real estate operation can be a challenging process.  Many of these challenges stem from a general lack of understanding as to how insurance policies are structured and how these policies are designed to respond in the event of a claim.  This session will provide real world examples to help attendees gain a better understanding of the purpose of insurance and how coverage is structured.  We will provide an overview of the misconceptions related to the certificate of insurance.  We will also discuss key endorsements to help ensure proper risk transfer in the event of a claim and the critical interplay of contracts and the insurance policy.

The Renewable Energy Transition: Texas and Not-Texas

This session focuses on how power markets, like Texas’ ERCOT, are evolving in the energy transition, discussing why it isn’t as easy as some seem to suggest and how it will impact all of us in the short and long term. We will briefly discuss the different market models, how other markets outside of Texas are dealing with some of the same problems, and how the powers at be are shaping the market needs for the future.

2022: What Just Happened in the Energy Markets and Why

2022 saw the return of volatility in the power and natural gas markets we haven’t seen in 15 years. This session looks back at some of the large market drivers that caused this volatility, and discusses the possibility of continued volatility in the future, and how to prepare yourself for it.
